Understanding hypnosis and the benefits and efficacy of using it as a means of delivering therapy.
Neuroscience, modern technology and extensive tests have proven conclusively how the mind works and how hypnosis is a natural part of its function.
There is nothing magical or mystical about hypnosis as stage hypnotists would have us believe. People who are wary of hypnosis, generally have a poor understanding of what it is. We are naturally hypnotic creatures, and hypnosis is central to human life, it happens naturally in our everyday life. We could even say that hypnosis is the optimum state for learning.
Some people think of hypnosis as a therapy, but actually it's a natural state of mind where learning takes place quickly and effectively. In fact everyone drifts in and out of hypnosis many times in a day. All emotional states are hypnotic states. For example, when we are engrossed in an interest, hobby or habit, when we drive our car and daydream, anytime our mind wanders into worrying thoughts, when we experience a fit of giggles, shock or trauma, or that rather sleepy feeling when we drift in and out of sleep. The deepest state of hypnosis is in rem sleep when we are dreaming. So the mind is naturally in and out of hypnosis frequently. When we are in this state our unconscious mind is much more engaged in what we are thinking or experiencing and is actually re-enforcing those things. Hypnosis can be used as a means for delivering therapy to make it more powerful, but it’s only as effective as the therapy it delivers, and only as good as the competence of the therapist delivering it. Used correctly it's efficacy is beyond compare. Not only for mental health issues, but for building confidence, maximising performance in sport, or in the workplace. Recent research found CBT or psychotherapy has a 70% better success rate when used with hypnosis. Within my sessions I combine counselling, CBT and psychotherapy in hypnosis. There is an added benefit in that the deep relaxation created has an instant calming, soothing de-stressing, and even a healing effect on the body. I am passionate about helping people improve their lives, and through using hypnosis as a means of delivering therapy. For the past twenty years I have seen clients go through some remarkable life changing experiences. In the last few years helping people far and wide online with the same successful results, as they feel more relaxed in the comfort of their own home, and are able to speak more freely about their worries or concerns without having to travel.
