Stress is probably the most significant cause of absenteeism in the workplace today, but it is a normal part of our everyday life, and even happy events like going on holiday can be stressful. In fact, anything that alters our day to day living can cause a certain amount of stress. Of course, everyone deals with stress differently, and what may be stressful to one person can be quite acceptable to another, but it is how it affects us emotionally and physically that is important. For instance, if you’re not sleeping properly, or you’re suffering from dizziness, breathlessness or rapid heartbeat, or experience a full-blown panic attack, these are all symptoms of stress. In the first session of hypnotherapy, I teach clients a breathing technique that not only temporarily reduces their symptoms, but can be used in any stressful situation they may encounter. We then look into the causes of their stress. In sessions two and three we can make positive and permanent changes, which not only enables the client to deal with daily problems and life experiences much more calmly but changes the way they think, feel and act. With hypnosis, the effects are much quicker, at a deeper level and the changes are permanent.
